Tel Aviv University has recently launched its new Nanotechnology Center, positioning Israel at the forefront of global nanotechnology and Advanced Packaging innovation.
Picotech, a subsidiary of Comtal Group, played a central role in establishing the center, bringing extensive expertise in importing and integrating advanced semiconductor and nanofabrication equipment.
The new facility features a state-of-the-art cleanroom spanning hundreds of square meters and enabling, for the first time in Israel, processes such as wafer thinning, wafer bonding, nanoimprint lithography, and advanced micro-CT inspection.
In a joint interview with Chiportal, Dr. Alice Polacsi-Segev, Head of the Nanotechnology Center, and Nitzan Cafif, CEO of Picotech, emphasized that incorporating Advanced Packaging into the new center provides a critical national infrastructure for bridging academia and industry. They also highlighted the shared commitment to making the world’s most advanced systems accessible to Israeli researchers and manufacturers.
This collaboration promotes local technological independence, accelerates innovation, shortens time-to-market, and gives startups and industries a significant competitive edge, reducing dependence on foreign research and production facilities.
